6 décembre 2023, Émirats arabes unis - Dubai, 6 December 2023, climate campaigners gathered at the entrance of the COP 28 Blue Zone to call for the negotiation of a global Plant Based Treaty as a companion to the Paris Agreement and to address breaches to five planetary boundaries.

Atami Tsoi said, “This is the first COP where food systems have been addressed. It has to be a fair and just plant-based food system that not only takes care of our own health but the planet’s health. This is urgent, everyone must sign the Plant Based Treaty and COP29 must be 100% vegan.”

Plant Based Treaty activists could be heard chanting: “Stop breaking planetary boundaries! Stop ignoring the cow in the room! Put meat on the agenda, not on the menu! and Break the silence!” Activists held up signs that read, “Sign the Plant Based Treaty. »

On Sunday, 10 December 2023 at 14.30 GST, COP28, Conference room 2, Zone B6 – Building 77, Plant Based Treaty will hold a press conference to launch their Safe and Just Report which offers a framework to address food’s impact on climate and other planetary boundaries and includes bold policy responses for a plant-based transition.
