Plant Based Treaty’s Chef Jaya preparing and training the kitchen team of Kuzhugchen MSS School in Thimphu to make plant-based meals for 300 students.
Our aim is to introduce Bhutan’s first government-aligned plant-based school integration model. During the visit, our in-house plant-based Chef Jaya worked directly with the school kitchen teams and prepared full plant-based meals for students.

Scaling up to all 467 state-owned schools
The Ministry of Education and Skills Development, Royal Government of Bhutan invited the Plant Based Treaty India team in partnership with local plant-based groups to focus on structured capacity building of school cooks across participating institutions, training them to independently prepare nutritionally balanced plant-based meals. Our goal is, following Ministry review, to scale-up successful implementation of the pilot and follow up with national expansion to all 467 state-owned schools.
