To promote a shift towards a just, plant-based food system that would enable us to live safely within our planetary boundaries and reforest the Earth.
Our vision is a global Plant Based Treaty attached to the Paris Agreement, and best practices in plant-based food policy implemented by cities and other institutions.

PROGRAM 1
Collecting Endorsements
Our theory of change is to create bottom-up pressure on governments to negotiate a global Plant Based Treaty by getting endorsements from millions of individuals including notable celebrities, scientists and politicians, tens of thousands of groups and businesses, and hundreds of cities.
PROGRAM 2
City Campaigns
We’re building a support base and developing site-specific Plant Based Treaty teams to introduce motions to city councils to endorse the Plant Based Treaty and incorporate plant-based food strategies into existing climate, biodiversity and food poverty action plans.
PROGRAM 3
Menu Change Not Climate Change
We’re using our series of Plant Based Treaty Playbooks outlining best practices for early childhood education, universities, senior homes, and athletes.
PROGRAM 4
Advocacy at Global Climate Talks
We engage in UN advocacy at global climate conferences such as UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COPs), the Bonn Climate Conference, and UN ECOSOC Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) consultations.
PROGRAM 5
Training and Capacity Building
We strengthen and grow the plant-based movement by launching tools and training, recruiting and empowering new advocates and launching impactful city teams.

Plant Based Treaty Heads to The Bonn Climate Meetings 2026

Utrecht, The Netherlands
The municipality of Utrecht has endorsed the Plant Based Treaty with several actionable steps.
They have agreed to help their residents eat more healthy plant-based foods from local sources. In addition, canteens within several offices will have more plant-based food, and food waste will be reduced.
Póvoa de Lanhoso, Portugal
Póvoa de Lanhoso formally endorsed Plant Based Treaty and set out plans to adopt a strategic action plan linking plant-based food with climate resilience, public health and social innovation. They propose practical measures including 100% plant-based meal options in school cafeterias, training caterers, care institutions and municipal nutritionists, as well as promoting plant-based cooking and food-literacy workshops at public events.
