The municipality of Utrecht has endorsed the Plant Based Treaty with several actionable steps.

They have agreed to help their residents eat more healthy plant-based foods from local sources. In addition, canteens within several offices will have more plant-based food, and food waste will be reduced.

Póvoa de Lanhoso formally endorsed Plant Based Treaty and set out plans to adopt a strategic action plan linking plant-based food with climate resilience, public health and social innovation. They propose practical measures including 100% plant-based meal options in school cafeterias, training caterers, care institutions and municipal nutritionists, as well as promoting plant-based cooking and food-literacy workshops at public events.

Southam town council has become the 7th in the U.K. joining more than 70 towns and cities worldwide that have already endorsed.

Southam seeks to increase the availability of plant-based options at council events and in community venues where appropriate, and they encourage and support local initiatives that raise awareness of sustainable and healthy food choices.

Somerville agrees to promote Plant Based Restaurant Week, provide educational material and encourage vegan food at city events.

Somerville City Council unanimously passed a resolution to endorse the Plant Based Treaty and implement meaningful plant-based initiatives. This Earth Month endorsement makes Somerville the 70th city globally and 7th US city to support the initiative.

The city will develop a Local Action Plan to reduce food emissions and promote sustainable diets.

Getafe has become the fifth Spanish municipality to support a shift towards plant-based food systems. It joins 68 cities, including Mataró, Parla, El Masnou, and Alcorcón in Spain, as well as major European capitals: Amsterdam, Edinburgh, and Belfast.
